The Wunan Health & Wellbeing Centre provides culturally safe, respectful and accessible healthcare to residents of Kununurra and the many visitors to our magnificent region.
Established in 2013 as the East Kimberley's only private GP accredited practice, Wunan Health has a long history of delivering high-quality healthcare to the local community. Formerly known as Kununurra Medical, the practice was founded to help address the significant health disparities experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including lower life expectancy, chronic health conditions and the impacts of substance dependency. By providing high-quality healthcare close to home, Wunan Health supports people to improve their health, wellbeing and quality of life.
Today, Wunan Health has grown into a trusted healthcare provider serving the East Kimberley through an integrated model of care. Alongside general practice services, Wunan Health now delivers allied health, mental health, drug and alcohol support, disability advocacy and care coordination services designed to support the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of local people.

Allied Health Program
In 2026, Wunan Health launched its Integrated Care and Allied Health Program to improve access to essential healthcare services for people living in Kununurra and across the East Kimberley. The program reflects Wunan's commitment to delivering holistic, community-led healthcare that combines clinical excellence with cultural safety.
The program focuses on strengthening collaboration between local healthcare providers, improving referral pathways and supporting coordinated, multidisciplinary care for people living with chronic and complex health conditions. Through the introduction of new allied health and Aboriginal cultural positions, the program is helping attract and retain skilled professionals in the region while creating a more connected healthcare system for local communities.
Developed in partnership with local health organisations, the program brings together clinical and cultural expertise to deliver healthcare that is responsive to community needs and supports better long-term health outcomes. By strengthening collaboration across the healthcare sector, Wunan Health is helping improve access to services and building healthcare capacity across the East Kimberley.
