Expanding Employment and Training Opportunities
In 2024, the resort expanded its workforce, welcoming 17 new Aboriginal staff members through the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) Jobs, Land, and Economy Program. This initiative helps break down employment barriers in Community Development Program (CDP) regions, creating long-term opportunities for Indigenous Australians. Additionally, Tourism WA’s Jina Plan supported specialised hospitality training, delivered by Don Hancey and Activated Training, ensuring staff gained essential skills and experience to excel in the industry.

Major Refurbishment and Cultural Revitalisation
Lily Lagoon Resort underwent a major refurbishment in 2024, transforming its restaurant facilities, outdoor dining areas, and public spaces. The resort now proudly showcases local Miriwoong artwork and architecture, celebrating the rich creativity and cultural heritage of the Kimberley’s Traditional Owners. This enhancement not only beautifies the space but also strengthens the economic opportunities for Aboriginal artists and businesses in the region.

Acknowledgements
We extend our heartfelt thanks to local artist Agnes Yamboong Armstrong, whose incredible talent has infused Lily Lagoon Resort with artwork inspired by her memories of growing up on Ivanhoe Station and Miriwoong Country. Her creations enrich the guest experience, adding a deep cultural connection to the space.
A special thanks to EKD Architects and Thermal Comfort Homes for their exceptional work on the redevelopment of Lily Lagoon Resort in 2024. Their dedication has been instrumental in ensuring the resort continues to grow as a premier Aboriginal tourism destination in the Kimberley.
