Welcome to the KNX Community Hostel

Wunan Foundation and MG Corporation have proudly partnered to establish the KNX (Kununurra) Community Hostel, providing a safe, supportive, and culturally respectful environment for Aboriginal youth pursuing education, training, or employment.

Located in Kununurra, the 42-bed facility represents a significant investment in the future of East Kimberley’s young people, ensuring they have access to stable accommodation and essential resources to support their success.

The KNX Community Hostel is also expanding its role as a community hub having hosted impactful mentoring workshops in collaboration with LifeChangers, hosted the Kimberley Spirit Football Program and Basketball League during the Kununurra Colts Champs, and playing a key role in supporting the Bedford Downs Stock Route Walk Program, hosting its participants ahead of the program launch.

Beyond accommodation, the hostel has become a thriving training facility, equipping young people with theoretical and practical skills to achieve their goals.

Our Facilities
We offer large, comfortable single units with shared bathrooms, a kitchen, living and laundry facilities. The outdoor area spans 3 acres and includes:

  • A football oval
  • A basketball court
  • A swimming pool

There’s plenty of space to relax and connect with family and friends.

What We Offer

  • Affordable board and lodging
  • A supportive living environment
  • Quiet and safe accommodation

Our Staff
Our fully trained support staff live on-site and are available 24/7 to assist with daily living and personal needs. A dedicated Case Support Worker collaborates with participants, employers, and trainers to ensure success.

Partnerships
We work closely with employers, trainers, and other organisations to support participants in achieving their goals and increasing completion rates.

How We Assist
Our goal is to empower participants to achieve independence by:

  • Developing individualised case management plans
  • Addressing personal and social barriers with the help of external service providers and health professionals
  • Building life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and time management
  • Improving work skills, including punctuality, reliability, and communication
  • Supporting training and employment opportunities

Participants can stay with us for up to two years, allowing them to focus on their goals before transitioning to independent housing.
