Wunan Foundation was proud to be part of the East Kimberley Employment & Careers Expo on Wednesday 24 July at the Kununurra Leisure Centre. The event brought together more than 20 local businesses, training providers and industry organisations, all showcasing career and training opportunities for the community.
The atmosphere was vibrant, with every stall offering something interactive to capture the interest of young people. More than 500 people attended throughout the day, making it a fantastic opportunity for jobseekers, and future jobseekers, to connect with employers, learn about upcoming courses, and explore real pathways for their future.
In addition to Wunan Foundation, the event was supported by Wunan Health, headspace, and the Jobs & Skills Centre, along with the Driver Training Project, Journey to Empowerment, Talent Academy, and the Wunan Support Services and Financial Hub, showcasing the breadth of programs and services available to the community.
A highlight was the demonstration from Driftwood Tree Services, where staff showed how to rope up safely in a tree to remove a high branch. It drew plenty of attention and gave a unique insight into the skills involved in the industry!
Overall, the Careers Expo was a great success, and Wunan was pleased to be part of an event that encouraged local people to explore new opportunities, connect with employers, and take steps toward achieving their goals!
